Diddy Sued Over Empress Cologne By Hair Company With Same Name
Sean “Diddy” Combs is being sued by a Texas-based company called Empress Hair Care, which claims the music mogul stole the name “Empress” from them for his women’s perfume of the same name, according to documents filed in Manhattan Federal Court last week.
Empress Hair Care, which sells products for women of color, claims Puff reached out to them February 2010 asking to work out a deal allowing him to use the Empress name, but the company declined, reports the New York Daily News. Lawyers for Diddy’s company, Sean John, attempted to trademark the name “Empress Sean John,” but that was denied as well. Still, Diddy went ahead and released the fragrance anyway.
Now, Empress Hair Care is crying foul, claiming infringement of a federally registered trademark and unfair competition. XXL reached out to Diddy’s reps, but calls haven’t been returned as of press time.
CHECK IT OUT!!!
