Ski Beatz Explains Why He Stopped Sampling, Speaks On The 90's Influence In Today's Music
Ski Beatz checks in with PlanetIll.com speaks on music taking a turn back to the 90's, reveals why he slowed down with sampling.
As a producer who has been around for decades, Ski Beatz is an artist who is quite familiar with the various trends in Hip Hop. The producer recently spoke on the latest musical trend in Hip Hop, which happens to be creating tracks reminiscent of a 90’s sound, in his interview with PlanetIll.com.
In the interview Ski Beatz explained that 90’s music was inspired by the 70’s and that music now is beginning to sound more and more like songs from the 90’s.
“Camp Lo is a perfect example of that sound. The 90’s is like the 70’s now,” Ski Beatz explained to PlanetIll.com. “You know what I mean? A lot of [people are] getting hip to that 90’s sound. I just came back from Paris yesterday and all they wanted to hear, they didn’t want to hear anything that was on the radio, all they wanted to hear me spin was all 1990’s music. You would’ve swore I was Kid Capri in Paris.”
At one point in his career Ski Beatz took a break from sampling and instead utilized a live band, he explained his reasoning behind that choice during the interview.
“Well, the original reason was we [had] an independent label and I was doing like a lot of sampling when I first hooked back up with Dame and he was like ‘Yo, we independent. We not gonna be able to clear the samples. We ain’t got no budget for this.’ So I said ‘Yo, we’ll just replay them.’ We’ll find some musicians and we’ll replay it," said Ski. "But we took it a step further we got the musicians but turned the musicians into our band, our in-house band.”
While Ski Beatz is most well-known for his production talent he revealed that he might return to the mic for his next project, Karate School Part 3.
“I might do something later. I think on this Karate School Part 3 I might do a feature on a track with somebody, it all depends. [I’ve been] rhyming lately so I might do it…That’s my first love I gotta do it,” he explained.

Game Promises Response To 50 Cent’s "Love, Hate, Love" Track
Game says 50's lines in "Love, Hate, Love," will not go unanswered and promises his own record once he hits a studio.
50 Cent's latest track "Love, Hate, Love" made its first rounds over the Web yesterday, stirring up sentiments because of its provocative content and intent. Fif spit more hate than he did love though, taking overt shots at both Lil Wayne and full-time adversary, Game.
While Fif questioned Weezy's un-Hip Hop-like style ("Actin' like a white boy bored/ Now you wanna jump a flight of stairs on a skateboard") and mocked the rapper's clothing ("Why the fuck your pants so tight?/ You trying to show niggas your ass, your alternative life"), his aims at Game struck more personal:
"You said you was gonna see me when your homie got shot/ It's been a while so I'm guessing you must've forgot/ Once again you forget ain't this some shit/ You forgot about me bitch I wrote your hits."
While Wayne has not responded to the track, Game addressed it in a tweet on Thursday afternoon.

Styles P, Sheek Louch Discuss Wu-Block LP
Over the last year, hip-hop has seen its share of collaborations between solo MCs, like Jay-Z and Kanye West, Eminem and Royce Da 5’9” and Gucci Mane and Waka Flocka Flame. Now, two of New York’s most respected rap crews, Wu-Tang Clan and The Lox, have decided to merge for a joint group album called Wu-Block, anchored by Ghostface Killah and Sheek Louch.
The two groups tell XXLMag.com they have locking in on the project for some time now.
“Me and Ghost doing this Wu-Block album,” Sheek told XXL. “It’s focused on me and Ghost but we got everybody on that muthafucka. Styles, Jada; we got everybody from RZA, to Rae to Meth, to my team.”
“Sheek and Ghost are spearheading that joint,” Styles added. “Everybody is playing their part. I’m having fun on this one. I’m just a soldier riding out on this one. We got a few joints [so far] and they knocking.
“It’s wonderful,” Styles continued. “As a MC, it’s like ‘I’m fucking working with this nigga? This nigga is somebody I listened to in my headphones while I was making my music, and recited his verses. This is a fellow MC. Even if you ain’t with somebody in your crew, as a MC, you share the love of words, the love of word play and the art of MCing. It’s always a pleasure to work with a Ghostface or Raekown. Those are two people I played. Those are people that I can say as a music head, those are two people I go to when I need to hear something.”
Sheek and Ghost got together in late 2010 while on the road promoting their respective LPs, Donnie G: Don Gorilla and Apollo Kids for Def Jam. “We did a tour together, me and Ghost,” Sheek explained. “After that, we decided to come back [and make an album]. Ghost tours a lot, so it was me saying ‘Come back, we’ll record.’ I would say we’ve been going strong for four months. We actually want it to come out in February. Its hip-hop for real. Me and him got the chicks too, but [the album is] real hip-hop. We trying to get 17 [tracks] done, but monsters. This shit is monstrous. It’s on and poppin’.”

Lil Wayne Talks Jay-Z Beef, Says It "Isn't About Competition"
Lil Wayne has once again addressed his beef with Jay-Z, claiming that he knew what he was doing when he dissed Hov on “It’s Good.” In a cover story for VIBE Magazine, Weezy explained that he doesn’t consider other rappers as “competition” and that he’s just focused on his own career.
“There’s no competition [with any artists]. Music isn’t about competition no more. All the gangster rappers are happy, all the skateboard rappers are happy, all the white rappers are happy…,” he said. “Everybody just happy to do music these days. There are no problems. That shit died a long time ago with them old-ass rappers. We are just making music, making money and having fun feeding our families. Competition is for the old guys.”
He also spoke about how he knew others would look at his shots towards Hov as a diss, but says that he didn’t fear any repercussions.
“I know for a fact, music is about perception. You can't do anything but perceive what you hear. If I know that for a fact, I can never be upset about someone's reaction to it. I'm not gonna say I don't know what will happen before I say it [on record]. I do know what will happen. I am aware of it. It is what it is,” he continued. “Well, I'm a man. I believe as a man you should know that. Every man should know the repercussions and consequences behind whatever they do before they do it. And of course, I know there won't be any repercussions behind what I did.”

T.I. Released From Halfway House, Completes 11-Month Sentence
After serving an 11-month sentence for violating his parole on a gun conviction, T.I. is once again a free man.
According to CNN, Tip was released from his halfway house in Atlanta, Georgia earlier this morning. He was initially sent to the house on August 31st, but briefly returned to jail for a short while after prison officials suspected he was conducting business on his bus to the home.
The King of the South originally entered prison in 2009 after cops arrested him for attempting to buy machine guns in a grocery store parking lot. He served seven months for the crime, and later returned to the clink after police pulled him over for making an illegal U-turn and discovered drugs in his vehicle.
