Papoose Forms Label & Pushes Ahead With "Nacirema Dream"

Wordsmith Papoose has formed a new record label named Honor B4 Money Records, to release his highly anticipated album Nacirema Dream.

Pap's label has already experienced success with his artist Karina Bradley, a Philadelphia-based pop singer who has a popular single out title “Nevermind Love” featuring Meek Mill.

Nacirema Dream was originally supposed to be released on DJ Kay Slay's record label, in conjunction with a seven-figure deal with Busta Rhymes and Jive Records.

Label politics put the release on hold, as Jive would eventually be absorbed by Sony Records.

According to reps from Papoose, the album will feature Erykah Badu, Jadakiss, Jim Jones, Thugacation, Busta Rhymes, Lloyd Banks, and his wife, incarcerated rapper Remy Ma.

In related news, Papoose is working with charitable organization Preserve our Legacy.

He recently completed a PSA with the organization to benefit the Batassy Orphanage/Women's Shelter in Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria.

Shawty Lo Speaks on Similarities Between Him and 50 & being 1st southern artist on G-Unit since Buck

Shawty Lo stepped into a meeting with 50 Cent back in March in New York City and seven hours later, the Bowen Homes, Bankhead, Atlanta rapper walked out with the groundwork for a joint record deal. Eventually, the G-Unit/D4L 50/50 deal was finalized last month.

So, how did L.O. keep ’Fif’s attention during a seven-hour marathon meeting of the minds? By being himself and sharing his story, one that eerily mirrors that of the G-Unit boss himself.

“Basically our similar life stories coming up,” said Carlos ‘Shawty Lo’ Walker in a recent visit to the XXL’s offices. “My life, how I was raised by my grandmother and she passed. His life with his mother. Similar situations.

“We’re cut from the same cloth,” L.O. continued. “My grandmother raised me, my mother was on drugs, my daddy was elsewhere, my grandmother died of cancer when I was 17 years old. I’ve been on my own since then.”

After hearing Shawty Lo’s story – one with distinct parallels to his own early life – 50 bought right in and offered him a deal.

“Basically, he told me I’m going to be a main . . . you know a lot of labels have a lot of artists and songs be on the backburner, but he said I’m going to be top prospect over here,” L.O. said. “I feel like what he is to New York, I am to Atlanta.”

That’s a bold statement, but then again why shouldn’t Shawty Lo be thinking big? D4L’s “Laffy Taffy” rose to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart back in 2006. Two years later, L.O. smashed the streets dolo with his hit single “Dey Know,” which also earned him a BET Award for Track of The Year. That same year he had a well-documented beef with T.I. that was later squashed. He’s currently touting his B.H.F. (Bankhead Forever) mixtape and working on his new album that will undoubtedly feature 50 and he expects will reach stores during the fourth quarter later this year.

With the partnership, L.O. becomes the first Southern artist on the Unit since Young Buck. Although Shawty Lo is cool with Buck, he said he didn’t speak to him about the 50/50 joint venture. He is happy about his new squad, though. “I am on a winning team,” L.O. said with a grin beaming off his face.

The Game Says He’s Joining Cash Money After Interscope Deal Ends

The Los Angeles rapper owes his label one more album after The R.E.D. Album and then he’ll “probably end up” on Cash Money Records…

If Cash Money is an army, then Birdman is a five-star recruiter. The June 2011 XXL cover star recently lured Bow Wow to the team and mined Miami for DJ Khaled and production duo Cool & Dre. Now, it looks like he has his Marc Jacobs-framed eyes set on The Game.

“I talk to Baby everyday,” Game told XXLmag.com.

On an unreleased track from the rapper’s forthcoming album, The R.E.D. Album, “All I Know,” produced by Boi-1da, Chuck Taylor reveals the Cash Money co-CEO’s overtures.

According to Game, who’s recorded a number of tracks in the past with Weezy, he’s been tight with the YMCBM clan since NBA player Baron Davis’s days with the New Orleans Hornets. Davis is the godfather to Game’s son and the rapper said the relationship between himself and Birdman dates back before The Documentary release when the Compton star used to visit the Crescent City.

With only one more album left on his current deal (he’s back on Interscope after being shuffled between the ‘Scope and Geffen during his feud with 50 Cent) following The R.E.D. Album, Game said he expects to reach a new agreement with Cash Money sooner rather than later.

“We been playing with the idea of going over to Cash Money or trying to marry that and Black Wall Street,” he explained. “So, we’ll figure it out before the end of the day. I definitely think that’s where I’ll probably end up. Cause they winning, they want to win and I been winning and want to continue to win.”

Game’s The R.E.D. Album hits stores on August 23.

Kay Slay Helps Lil Cease & The Outlawz End Beef

It’s been almost 15 years since the Tupac Shakur and Christopher "Notorious B.I.G." Wallace murders captured the hearts and minds of entertainment world, but those close to the rappers are still finding ways to heal and find closure.

Just recently, Young Noble of the Outlawz and Lil’ Cease of Junior Mafia decided to record a new song entitled “Bury the Hatchet,” to commemorate their squashing of the beef, in addition to recognizing the 15-year anniversary of Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac Shakur passing away.

“At the end of the day me and the Outlawz was always cool, and me and Cease are cool, and I just thought about how nobody never really grabbed hold of The Outlawz or Lil’ Cease," Kay Slay told AllHipHop.com of the commemorative song. "They [Tupac Shakur and Notorious B.I.G.] are two of the most high profile artists of the 1990’s and both of them passed and no one adopted their crews."

“We winded up getting on the phone together and when we first got on the phone it was definitely an issue when we chopped it up, and as men we got to the bottom of it,” Young Noble of the Outlawz explained to AllHipHop.com in an exclusive interview. “I feel if Pac and Big had been able to do the same thing, they might be around today. As men honoring them, their families and the Hip-Hop community, it was something we felt we needed to do.”

According to both the rappers, Young Noble and Lil’ Cease share a common thread, in that they were both on the scene when their respective mentors, brothers and friends were shot.

When Tupac was murdered in Las Vegas in September of 1996, Young Noble was in the car behind Tupac.

And when Biggie was murdered in Los Angeles in March of 1997, Lil’ Cease was in the car and luckily dodged the rare, German made Gecko armor-piercing bullets, that took Biggie's life.

“We had so much animosity towards each other without even knowing each other, just because we was ridin’ for Big and they were ridin’ for Pac, but like they say time heals all wounds," Lil Cease told AllHipHop.com.

“If we can settle our beef then what's the real beef, compared to what all these other ni**as is beefin about?” Lil’ Ceased asked. “Its like come on man, we lost both our dudes to this s**t and we’re mature enough to handle our situation and make something positive out of it, it makes that record really special."

According to Lil Cease, the news of their new-found unity may surprise some, but the process was almost 10-years in the making.

“We’ve been talking for like seven years and we really didn’t let anyone know we were talking,” Lil’ Cease explained to AllHipHop.com. “We were just waiting for the right time and situation and Kay Slay presented the idea to us and then once he knew we were talking, we felt he was the best person to give it that push because Kay Slay represents the hood an its something the game needs.”

According to Young Noble, after Pac died a lot of doors were shut on the Outlawz and Kay Slay was one of the few people that always showed love to the group.

As they patiently waited for the right time to put the record out, Noble and Lil Cease thought that Kay Slay’s last album would be the best time to “Bury the Hatchet."

“We were young and wild, so at the end of the day we were ready for whatever. We were ridin’ with Pac, our big brother so we pretty much were on some soldier s**t. Just being around Pac you had to be like that because when he was around, he was the biggest rapper in the world,” Noble recalled. “Just going to the mall, the whole mall followed, so we were damn near on some security s**t sometimes. It was definitely a tense time but it was also a great time as well. That whole era of Hip-Hop was historical. I just wish Pac and Big were here to see it.”

The two hope that them finding a way to settle their differences will lead other Hip-Hop artists to consider the same path, but both understand the competitive side of the culture.

“People think you have to be a certain way in this game. Nah man, there’s nothing wrong with settling your differences especially if it wasn’t that serious,” Lil Cease. “All this stuff about Big having something to do with Pac and Pac having something to do with Big, all that is laid to rest.”

All proceeds from the song "Bury the Hatchet" will go to Tupac Shakur and Christopher Wallace's respective foundations.

Dame Dash Owes The IRS $3 Million in Back Taxes

Dame has reportedly faltered on payments to Uncle Sam.

Damon Dash’s financial struggles have been well publicized over the past few years and the most recent news says that the Roc-A-Fella Records co-founder currently owes the IRS almost $3 million in taxes.

The Detroit News reports that according to a June 30th lien filed against Dash, the 40-year-old former music mogul is required to pay $2,984,364 to clear his debt. Back in 2008, the New York Post reported that Dash was facing foreclosure on his home, after being sued for mortgage payments he hadn’t made. At that point, it was reported that Dash already owed approximately $2 million to the IRS in back taxes.

Dash sold his share in Roc-A-Fella Records to Island Def Jam in 2004, since then he’s been creating music with a variety of artists in his New York City studio and art gallery DD172.

Jay-Z And Kanye West's "Watch The Throne" Gets New Digital Release Date

Release dates for Hov and Yeezy's collaborative project continue to jump around.

With so much star power driving Jay-Z and Kanye West's Watch the Throne, it's a wonder the project has seen so many delays and so few hard release dates.

It appears, however, that iTunes has finally provided the latter. Maybe.

The digital retailer has revealed that Monday, August 8, is the "expected release" date of the album. With that caveat of "expected" in mind, standard and deluxe editions of the album are available for pre-order.

HipHopDX previously reported that the official release dates were August 1 and August 5 for digital and physical releases, respectively. It is unclear whether the physical release date has been affected.
